The department of Education have noted this yet nothing is done to help children! https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201719/cmselect/cmeduc/342/34205.htm

I just had a fantastic call with Kay Carter from the Dyslexia Association about how the focus is phonics phonics phonics yet nothing is done to boost children's confidence in schools otherwise.

She pointed me towards some other methods which we know help children to read, feel like they matter and are valued in the education system. One is Morph Mastery which I look forward to learning about.

Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) face significant challenges in educational settings. Recent statistics indicate that:

  • Children with SEN are over 7 times more likely to be excluded from school compared to their peers.

  • This disparity highlights the need for targeted interventions and support systems within educational institutions.

Implications of Exclusions

The high rate of exclusions for children with SEN can have various implications, including:

  • Increased risk of educational disengagement and dropout.

  • Negative impact on mental health and wellbeing.

  • Long-term effects on social skills and future employment opportunities.

Strategies for Improvement

To address these challenges we need to create inclusive environments that promote acceptance and understanding.

Thats why going Beyond Spelling is cruicial to help children engage!
