Raising nearly £1,200 by dancing for 6.5 hours can create real opportunities for children.

I am super excited to have kick-started the fundraising efforts for Beyond Spelling.

I return to school this week and am super excited to start setting up some extra curricular opportunities for children who struggle academically in school.

Spending over six hours dancing was tough as it was a little boring. Ultimately having it filmed was pretty humiliating. This is what so many children feel every school day!

The funds raised will directly support Beyond Spelling, helping to provide resources and opportunities for children to engage in activities beyond the classroom.

What Beyond Spelling means for children

Beyond Spelling aims to offer a variety of extra-curricular activities that children can enjoy after school. These activities are designed to:

  • Encourage creativity and self-expression

  • Build confidence and social skills

  • Provide a healthy outlet for energy and curiosity

  • Help children discover new interests and talents

By raising £1,200, the program can start small but meaningful projects. For example, it might fund art classes, sports clubs, music lessons, or drama workshops. These activities give children a chance to try new things in a supportive environment, which can have lasting benefits for their development.

Setting up extra-curricular activities at school

With the new school term underway, the focus shifts to organizing and launching these activities. Setting up extra-curricular programs involves:

  • Coordinating with teachers and staff to find suitable times and spaces

  • Ensuring activities are inclusive and accessible

These programs can transform the school experience, making it more enjoyable and enriching.

Why supporting children’s interests matters

Children thrive when they have opportunities to explore what excites them. Extra-curricular activities help balance academic work with fun and personal growth. They teach important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and problem-solving. Supporting these activities shows a commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.

The success of this fundraising effort proves that communities value giving children these chances. It also encourages others to think about how they can contribute, whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word.
